Tustin Unified Announces Administrative Appointments for 2018-19 School Year

The Tustin Unified School District has announced several administrative appointments, which will begin July 1, for the 2018-19 school year.
Devang Brahmbhatt is joining TUSD as an assistant principal at Beckman High School. He replaces Vivian Choi, who is moving to the Los Angeles area to work as an assistant principal at Santa Monica High School.
Brahmbhatt has worked in education for 20 years – all in the Kern High School District in Bakersfield. He has served as a high school assistant principal, dean of students, guidance counselor and mathematics teacher. He also was supervising administrator of instructional technology for the school district.
Brahmbhatt has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in education – counseling and pupil personnel services from California State University, Bakersfield.
Dr. CK Green will become an assistant principal at Foothill High School. He is replacing Adam Hernandez, who has left the District.
Green has worked in education for 14 years and was principal of Utt for the past two years. Prior to Utt, he was assistant principal at Tustin High School. Green has also worked as a high school assistant principal in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District and mathematics curriculum specialist, math teacher and high school baseball coach in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.
Green has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from California State University, Long Beach; a master’s degree in educational administration from National University in San Diego; and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern California.
Ryon Tanara is coming to Tustin Unified as an assistant principal at Tustin High School. He replaces Tim Grave, who is working closer to home as an assistant principal at Marina High School in Huntington Beach.
Tanara has worked in education for six years – the past year as an English and journalism teacher at Beckman High School. Prior to joining TUSD, Tanara taught English and journalism at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles. He has also served as a high school principal intern in Boston, a high school English and journalism teacher in Las Vegas, and an instructional coach for the nonprofit Teach for America organization. Among his honors, Tanara was named Clark County School District (Las Vegas) 2012-13 New High School Teacher of the Year.
Tanara has a bachelor’s degree in literary journalism from the University of California, Irvine; a master’s degree in English curriculum and instruction from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; and a master’s degree in school leadership from Harvard University.
Kerri Braun, TUSD Connect Coach at Jeane Thorman Elementary School, has been named interim assistant principal at Hicks Canyon Elementary School. She will take over for Jaclyn Spangler, who is joining Orchard Hills School as an additional assistant principal.
Braun has served as a Connect Coach for the past three years. Prior to coming to Tustin Unified, she was a teacher on special assignment in math and science for a school district in the state of Washington, taught kindergarten for the Alameda Unified School District and was a first-grade teacher at West Point Elementary School in New York and overseas in Heidelberg and Giessen, Germany. Most recently, Braun achieved National Board Certification – the highest professional credential in the field of teaching. She received her certificate in the area of Literacy: Reading-Language Arts for Early Childhood/Middle Childhood.
Braun has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Long Island University in New York and a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Phoenix in Arizona. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at USC.
