Six Tustin High Students Selected for Boeing’s Summer Internship Program
Six students in Tustin High School’s T-Tech Academy have been selected to serve as interns in Boeing Corporation’s 2019 Summer Internship Program. The students, formerly juniors and now seniors, went through an arduous paper screening and interview process to be selected for the aerospace company’s prestigious program. They are Ivy Dang, America Garcia, Anaka Mahesh, Jonathan Marshall, Natalia Murrietta and Dhaval Vora. While at Boeing’s Huntington Beach campus through Aug. 1, the Tustin High interns will be observing and working with some of the brightest minds in aerospace, chemistry, computer science and engineering.
“As much as I strive to teach my students all that I can, there are certain things that you just can’t teach in school,” said Ed Hernandez, engineering teacher and T-Tech Academy director at Tustin High School. “As a Boeing intern, my students get to experience the ‘real world’ of engineering, science and technology with highly skilled professionals in one of the world’s best technology companies. I can’t thank Boeing enough for taking a chance on our students – it truly is an investment in the development of our future.”
Tustin High School has participated in Boeing’s Summer Internship Program for the past six consecutive years. To date, 40 Tustin High T-Tech students have interned in the program and Tustin Boeing alumni have gone on to enroll and graduate from top colleges and universities across the country. The program is highly competitive and limited to only 75 students from 13 public and private high schools throughout Orange County.
“Tustin High’s students have excelled in the program, so much so that a Tustin student has been named the ‘Top Intern’ for three of the past six years,” Hernandez said. “We expect great things from this year’s interns.”
