Robert Heideman Elementary School, in partnership with Argumentation and Communication Leadership Academy (ACLA), is holding its first-ever Speech and Debate Tournament on Sunday, May 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the school, 15571 Williams St.
The theme of the tournament is “Ready to Learn” to reflect the student’s ready to learn attitude, perseverance and high motivation to succeed. The school will host speech and debate students from several school academies and other institutions.
“Heideman students will not only have a chance to put their newly-learned skills to use, but also show their own creation – the “Roadrunner style” sparring debate, while meeting other students in the speech and debate world and enjoying a fun day of competition,” said community liaison Veronica Rivas, who is coordinating the tournament.
Awards ceremonies will be held at 1 and 5:45 p.m. Family, friends and the public are invited to attend the event. For more information, call Heideman School at (714) 730-7521.
