Even when life doesn’t hand you lemons, make lemonade! Tustin Unified School District students from Arroyo, Barbara Benson, Guin Foss, Ladera, Peters Canyon, and Jeane Thorman elementary schools participated in “Lemonade Day in Tustin” on April 27. Lemonade Day teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand. Students use their entrepreneurship skills and learn the process of running a lemonade stand, from accessing capital and developing a marketing plan to the day of operations. The student-run lemonade stands were located at various businesses through the community. Students raised thousands of dollars and had the opportunity to share profits with the charities of their choice. Seen above at Arroyo School’s lemonade stand are, from left, TUSD Educational Technology Coordinator Garrett Kerr, Arroyo school secretary Arlene Lopez, Arroyo second grader Ned Raz, former Arroyo Interim Principal Dr. Kristy Andre, Arroyo fifth grader Lexi Leedom, and Utt Middle School seventh-grader Spencer Kerr. TUSD students and staff never run out of juice and are simply the zest!
