Friday Fun Foto! May the Fours be with You
Sycamore Magnet Academy (SMA) seventh grader Melissa Solano receives four Student of the Month certificates in September from Principal Rafael Plascencia. No student has ever been nominated for Student of the Month four times in one month at the school. Teachers recognize students who have demonstrated the qualities of a Sycamore Wolf – Respect, Empathy and Perseverance (REP). Melissa was nominated by classroom teachers Bradley Knutsen for her willingness to help others in math, Zachariah Samarin for outstanding work ethic in language arts/social science, Luz Angelica Jimenez for active participation in Spanish and Amy Tubbs for excellence in science. She was honored with a drive-through awards ceremony, special treats and photographs. The new Sycamore Magnet Academy (formerly Thorman Elementary and Currie middle schools) is designed for TK through eighth-grade students to pursue their interests in global affairs, media arts, communication and/or Spanish Dual Language Immersion. Students also experience the Model United Nations (MUN) program in which they explore diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. We’re sure Melissa and the students at SMA will make a “world” of difference.
