Ashly McNamara Named Principal of Beswick Elementary School
The Tustin Unified School District has appointed Ashly McNamara as principal of Benjamin Beswick Elementary School. She will take over for Stephanie Yang, who became Director of Educational Services. McNamara begins her new position this week.
“Ashly is an outstanding educator and her work across the District has always been excellent,” Superintendent Dr. Gregory Franklin said. “She has the instructional expertise and leadership to continue the good work at Beswick School.”
McNamara has worked in education for 20 years – all in Tustin Unified. She has taught at Arroyo, Myford and Marjorie Veeh elementary schools, and served as a Digital Learning Coach and Connect Coach for the District. Most recently, McNamara was a teacher on special assignment in the area of English language arts. She has also collaborated on District programs to build curriculum, supported teacher development, coordinated TUSD’s annual Elementary and Middle School Film Festival, and received multiple grants to support classroom instruction.
McNamara has a bachelor’s degree in speech communications from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree in reading from California State University, Fullerton.
“I’m passionate about learning and eager to begin partnering with the teachers, staff, and parents to continue to prepare Beswick students for college and 21st-century careers,” McNamara said. “Providing Beswick students with a rigorous, engaging and innovative experience to support independent thinking is so important for future achievement. My goal will be to ensure that all children are supported with high-quality instruction that supports risk-taking, curiosity, and wonder.”
